Dawn Chorus at School

Tips and tricks: How school classes can participate!

The easiest way to participate in this citizen science and art project is with the Dawn Chorus app. All you need is a smartphone or tablet – and an email address to register and log in.

For security reasons, you will receive a confirmation link at the email address you provided. You must click on this link before you can upload recordings. Our recommendation: Register the evening before the recording and familiarise yourself with the app so that you can get started right away in the morning!

Here’s a little tip to make participating even more enjoyable:

It’s usually easier to find something new when you already know what you’re looking for. It’s best to choose a bird that lives near you and listen to what it sounds like beforehand. This will make it easier for you to hear it when other species are singing along in the morning concert.

  • You can find some common dawn chorus singers here.
  • Information and profiles of the most common bird species in our region can be found, for example, in the LBV species portraits (in German).

AI-supported bird song recognition

Once you have made a recording, you can use the automatic bird song recognition feature integrated into the Dawn Chorus app. You can find out more about this here.
